Two armed attacks in north Guayaquil leave one driver dead and one motorcyclist wounded

The evening of Wednesday 10 June 2025 was marked by violence in the north of Guayaquil, where two armed attacks were recorded with different outcomes. In one of the incidents, a driver lost his life, whilst in the other a motorcyclist was seriously wounded.

The first incident occurred in the Avenida Casuarina sector, in the Unión de Bananeros cooperative, when armed individuals intercepted a man who was driving his vehicle. The attackers shot him repeatedly, causing the driver to die at the scene. The victim was found lying beside his car, which bore bullet impacts.

At another location in the north of the city, a motorcyclist was the victim of a similar attack. Unknown assailants shot him and left him seriously wounded. He was urgently transported to a hospital to receive medical attention. His health condition was reported as serious.

Both incidents caused alarm amongst residents of the area, who alerted the authorities. National Police personnel attended the scenes of the attacks to collect evidence and gather information to help identify those responsible.

Armed violence continues to be a problem affecting various sectors of Guayaquil. The authorities are maintaining operations in the city with the aim of reducing crime rates and apprehending the perpetrators of these crimes.
