The magistrate in charge of the presidency of Ecuador's National Court of Justice, Marco Rodríguez, granted on Friday 12 June 2026 the extradition of Lithuanian national Linas Grigaliūnas, who is sought by the justice system of his country for alleged offences of drug trafficking, misappropriation of assets and attempted witness tampering.
Grigaliūnas was detained in late October 2025 in Guayaquil, the largest city in the South American country, by agents of the National Police. Since 2023 the man had appeared on Interpol's wanted list.
The arrest was carried out in compliance with a court order issued by Ecuador's National Court of Justice, within the framework of the Support Programme for the Fight against Transnational Organised Crime (Paccto 2.0), a cooperation project with the European Union.
According to 15min.lt, Lithuanian justice seeks for the accused to answer before the courts of his nation for the unlawful acts attributed to him.
