The ruling determines that Moreno received bribes to favour Chinese state-owned enterprise Sinohydro in the construction of the country's largest hydroelectric facility. Sinohydro, a publicly owned Chinese enterprise, obtained the contract to build Ecuador's largest hydraulic infrastructure project, an undertaking of strategic importance for the country's energy supply.
