Two men arrested following a shooting that occurred on 5 April on a sports field in south Guayaquil were remanded in custody pending investigation. Three people died in the incident and six others were injured.

During the respective hearing, the prosecutor presented to the Criminal Guarantees judge the arrest report, statements from the uniformed officers who carried out the detentions, and documentation from the body recovery. As evidence, the defendants' mobile phones were presented, clothing that they allegedly wore at the time of the attack, and two vehicles used, one with a theft record.

The duty magistrate, after analysing the evidence, decided to keep both subjects in custody whilst the investigation continues, which will last for one month.

Follow-up from the videovigilance system of Segura EP made it possible to locate the first arrested individual in Las Casas Colectivas. Subsequently, in La Floresta, another vehicle was found being driven by an individual who was offering an executive taxi service.

No further arrests related to this incident have been reported.
