Operation Apollo 22: 29 arrested and eight gangs targeted in Guayaquil and Durán
A police operation in Guayaquil and Durán resulted in 29 arrests and targeted eight criminal organisations. Weapons, drugs, vehicles and motorcycles were seized.

A police operation deployed across various sectors of Guayaquil and Durán concluded with the detention of 29 people allegedly linked to organised crime organisations, according to eltelegrafo.com.ec.
The operation, named Apollo 22, also resulted in the seizure of nine firearms, six magazines, 36 rounds of ammunition, 852 doses of controlled substances, 15 blocks of drugs, 12 bladed weapons, four vehicles and 33 motorcycles, amongst other evidence incorporated into the investigation.
According to the National Police, the interventions affected alleged structures of the groups Latin King, Águilas, Tiguerones, Lobos, Lagartos, Mafia 18, Carniceros and Choneros, investigated for drug trafficking, arms smuggling, extortion, kidnapping and robbery.
The general commander of the National Police, Pablo Dávila, stated that one of those arrested will be investigated for alleged involvement in a violent death recorded in the Cuba neighbourhood, in southern Guayaquil. His identification was achieved through the analysis of security camera footage.
Among the operation's results, the capture of 15 people found in a property at the Multicomercio shopping centre also stands out. Investigations suggest that location had been used to coordinate mobile phone thefts and armed robberies of commercial premises.
The largest drug seizure was carried out in the Pascuales district, based on information provided by citizens through anonymous reports, according to authorities.
