Ecuador's National Police carried out a series of checkpoints during the holiday period from 12 to 16 June in Guayaquil, resulting in 170 people arrested and 30 firearms seized, according to reporting by Primicias.

The operations were conducted as part of the 3D Operational Strategy, which seeks to weaken, disorganise and dismantle criminal structures operating across national territory.

During the actions, uniformed officers carried out checkpoints at different points throughout the city to prevent criminal offences and guarantee citizens' security during the holiday period.

As a result of the operations, 170 people were arrested for various offences, including robbery, theft, unlawful possession of firearms and other crimes.

In addition, officers succeeded in seizing 30 firearms that were in the possession of individuals who did not have the corresponding permits for their ownership.

The police institution highlighted that these results are part of the permanent actions it undertakes to combat organised crime and strengthen public security in Guayaquil and throughout the country.

The detainees and the seized items were handed over to the competent authorities so that corresponding investigations could be conducted.

The National Police reiterated its commitment to continuing with preventive and control operations across Ecuadorian territory to guarantee the security of the population.
