Ecuador police seize 64 kilos of cocaine destined for China in Guayaquil operation
Ecuadorian authorities detained one person and seized 64 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride that was to be sent to China concealed among banana shipments. The operation was carried out on 5 July 2026 in the Pascuales area, north of Guayaquil, according to information provided by the National Police.
The operation, named "Shanghai", enabled the discovery of the drugs in a secret compartment of an export container. The narcotics were covered with metal plates and a greasy substance to evade X-ray scanners and the sense of smell of detection dogs.
In addition to the drug, agents seized the vehicle that was transporting the container. The confiscated substance represents approximately 64,000 doses and would have a value close to 1.6 million dollars on the United States market, according to police estimates.
