Minor victim of stabbing attack in Vantaa
According to Ilta-Sanomat, a stabbing occurred at Koivukylä railway station in Vantaa on Tuesday afternoon, with a minor as the victim. Lead investigator, Detective Superintendent Sanna Rentola from East Uusimaa police, confirms that the male victim is not in danger of his life. No danger was posed to bystanders in the incident.
Police apprehended the suspected perpetrator shortly after five o'clock from an address in the vicinity. The suspect remains in police custody under arrest.
Rentola is not disclosing details of the incident or the victim's injuries, as interviews are ongoing. To date, only one interview has been conducted, and no witnesses have yet been interviewed.
"In a situation like this, I cannot provide any details to the public as it would jeopardise future interviews, in which we want to obtain people's own observations," Rentola explains.
The charges have not yet been determined, as the case is complex according to Rentola. In police's assessment, the matter will involve multiple charges, and it is not simply a question of a single, separate incident.
Additionally, police are investigating whether multiple individuals were involved in the case. According to Rentola, it is unlikely to be just a single incident between two people.
The preliminary investigation is still in its early stages. More detailed information will be released to the public as the investigation progresses.
