The Grenoble prosecutor's office has requested that Abdoul Diallo, accused of killing Lilian Dejean, a municipal official from Guadeloupe, in September 2024, be committed for trial at the assize court.

Homicide of a municipal official in Grenoble
More than a year after the death of Lilian Dejean, the Grenoble prosecutor's office requested on Monday that Abdoul Diallo be committed to trial before an assize court, according to la1ere.franceinfo.fr. Dejean, head of Grenoble's urban cleanliness service, was shot dead on 8 September 2024. Diallo, then in his early twenties, is suspected of firing the shots.
The incident occurred following a road accident. Diallo allegedly left his vehicle and fired towards the ground, then towards Dejean, aged 49, who was attempting to prevent him from fleeing. One of the bullets struck the municipal official in the thorax. Analysis of CCTV footage "makes it possible to confirm" that the suspect fired "twice at intervals of a few seconds", according to the prosecution documents consulted by Franceinfo.
The prosecution alleges an "intention to kill" in Diallo's actions at the time of the incident. During questioning in August, the suspect nonetheless claimed that he "never had the intention to kill Lilian Dejean, nor to do him harm". He expressed regret for his actions, the prosecution reports.
Diallo was arrested on 21 November 2024 in Portugal and then handed over to French judicial authorities. Six other people have been referred to a criminal court, suspected of having assisted the main suspect in his escape. Dejean, a family man, succumbed to his injuries on the day of the assault.
