Incendiary attack on Plevriti's office in the early hours

The political office of Migration and Asylum Minister Thanos Plevriti came under incendiary attack on Alexandrou Soutsos Street in Kolonaki, according to ERT.

The incident was recorded at approximately 2:15 a.m. Unknown individuals planted an improvised incendiary device consisting of two petrol bombs at the entrance of the building.

The entrance door sustained damage from the explosion, and windows at the site were shattered. Police officers from the Explosives Disposal Unit rushed to the scene immediately. Warning notices were placed at the entrance of the apartment building to inform passers-by about the danger from the broken glass.

Plevriti reacted immediately with a post on social media, attributing the attack to "supporters of illegal immigrants". He claimed that the manner in which the explosive devices were placed demonstrated murderous intent, as he had only just left the office.

"Some supporters of illegal immigrants placed explosive devices at my political office in the centre of Athens. I had just left it," the minister wrote. "I don't count these specific scum. I scare them and they don't scare me," he added.

The perpetrators remain unknown and police are conducting an investigation.
