Court of appeal hearing in Touni case on 9 June 2027
The revenge porn case involving influencer Ioanna Touni is returning to court. According to Newsit.gr, the two convicted defendants filed an appeal following the first-instance judgment, and the second-level hearing has been scheduled for 9 June 2027.
Touni's lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, spoke on Friday 23 October 2026 on Alpha television about the developments. Regarding the possibility of a public apology from the convicted defendants, he stated: "If the convicted defendants ask for an apology from Ms Touni, I think that Ms Touni herself would not want them to be locked up in prison."
Background of the case
The case began in 2017. In video footage recorded in the back seat of a car, Ioanna Touni is shown engaging in sexual activity with a then 30-year-old businessman from Xanthi, with whom she was in a relationship. She maintains that she was unaware that she was being recorded and that she was under the influence of alcohol.
In May 2020, the video was posted on a website containing adult material and became publicly accessible. The businessman filed a complaint, and the following day Touni also filed a complaint, speaking publicly about the humiliation as well as the moral and psychological abuse she suffered.
In 2022, Touni directly named the two defendants, holding them responsible for the illegal recording and distribution of the material. The defendants denied any involvement.
Conviction and appeal
In April 2026, the Thessaloniki Mixed Jury Court found the two defendants guilty of serious criminal offences. The convicted defendants filed an appeal, and the case is expected to be re-examined by the competent court of appeal in June 2027.
