Matricide in Zugló: child hid in cupboard while perpetrator carried out the act
The trial of a defendant accused of killing his 30-year-old partner around 2021 in a Zugló home continued on Tuesday at the capital's court. During the murder, the woman's underage son was also present in the flat, according to 24.hu.
The testimony of the victim's child, Dominik, was read aloud first at the hearing, followed by questioning of an expert. C. Károly, who had previously been held in custody, arrived freely at the court room. It later emerged that he had been released, placed under supervision, and had begun working as a labourer from early May.
The defendant has only primary education. He met Sz. Zsuanette a few months before the death and they soon moved in together. They lived together with the woman's son from a previous relationship. On the fatal day they consumed alcohol: the man obtained two litres of wine, which the two of them drank.
An accident occurred in the flat: C. Károly accidentally elbowed the young boy in the face. The mother slapped the man in the face because of this, and an argument started. The argument continued in the kitchen. The defendant ordered the child to remain in the bedroom and did not allow him to leave.
According to the prosecution, the man attacked the woman in a rage, seized her throat, and ended her life. The young boy cowered in the bedroom, hiding in a clothes cupboard, whilst the horror unfolded. During the trial, it also came to light that following his release, the defendant attempted to influence witnesses.
The court decided to pursue further investigation of the evidence.
