Police attempted a traffic check on Budapest's Andrássy Street on Wednesday morning after observing a private car illegally using the bus lane. The incident occurred at approximately 10.40 a.m., the police said.

However, when police officers signalled the vehicle to stop, the driver did not comply. Instead, he accelerated and attempted to escape. The fleeing driver committed further traffic violations during the escape.

After driving across the closed Chain Bridge, the driver reached the Castle District, specifically Csónak Street, where at approximately 10.50 a.m. he collided with two motorcycle officers, then reversed and struck a service vehicle. He was apprehended at the scene.

According to police information, the motorcycle officers were not injured, but one patrol officer in the police vehicle sustained a minor injury.
