The Komló District Court has issued a final conviction against a local resident who called out police with false criminal reports on two separate days. S. B. was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of disqualification from public office. This must be served on top of a one-year custodial sentence imposed by an earlier Pécs court decision.
On 25 May 2025, the man called the emergency dispatch centre and claimed that multiple victims had been murdered in a Komló square, that a person had been abducted, and that his own parents had also been killed. According to him, the perpetrator was armed. The uniformed officers who rushed to the scene were shown the alleged crime location, but nothing corroborated his story. Since the report was fabricated, no investigation was initiated.
A day later he reported again, this time claiming that two men were being held captive in a Komló flat. Police searched the alleged first-floor property but found no one. One of the named individuals did not actually exist in reality.
According to the court, the defendant deliberately sought to deceive the authorities with false information and attempted to initiate criminal proceedings with groundless accusations.
