Budapest police have arrested a 30-year-old paramedic who confessed to cannibalism. Skulls, bones, facial skin, brain, hand and other body parts were found at his apartment and workplace.

Budapest criminal police have arrested a 30-year-old man who worked for the ambulance service at a local hospital on suspicion of cannibalism. During a search of his apartment and workplace, skulls, bones and numerous other human body parts were seized. The man confessed during interrogation that he had prepared and consumed the human remains – according to 24.hu.
Police launched an investigation after a report was received that the perpetrator was storing human body parts both at home and at work. During the investigation, it emerged that the Budapest man was fascinated by anatomy and pathology, and enjoyed dissecting animals. Suspicion arose that he had obtained the body parts from his workplace, but also exhumed corpses from abandoned cemeteries in Slovakia and Hungary. He spoke openly about his hobby to family members and friends, and even took photographs of his collection.
Following the gathering of evidence, investigators arrested the man on 17 June in Budapest's second district. In parallel, all his properties and vehicles were searched, and computers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, SIM cards and data cards were seized.
During the investigation, a prepared human face, facial skin, bones stored in a suitcase, a complete lower leg, brain, hand, and skulls and heart stored in jars were found. The latter item is still being examined to determine whether it is of human or animal origin. All other seized remains are being examined by a forensic pathology expert.
The man stated that he was particularly attracted to human body parts, which he prepared and ate in various ways. Following police interrogation, he was taken into custody, and the court ordered probation supervision against him.
Investigators must precisely determine the origin of each body part found. If this is established, the scope of offences with which the suspect can be charged may expand. Human remains were found at a funeral home in Páty six years ago.
