A thirty-year-old healthcare worker has been arrested by Hungarian investigators after it emerged that she kept skulls, bones and skin fragments in her apartment and workplace.

Hungary's National Investigative Office (NNI) took a thirty-year-old man into custody on 17 June in Budapest. According to suspicions, the healthcare worker stored body parts in both his apartment and his hospital workplace.
Police issued a statement about the case on Tuesday. Investigators conducted a search of the man's home, where they found skulls, a complete lower leg, a hand and a human face made of skin. Various bones were discovered in a suitcase. A heart was also among the seized items – experts are still working to determine whether it is of human or animal origin.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he had been collecting these fragments for a long time because he was attracted to them. He cooked some of the parts and ate them. According to the authorities, he "was passionate about anatomy and pathology and enjoyed dissecting animals".
The remains were presumably obtained during his work at the hospital and from abandoned cemeteries in Hungary and Slovakia. Police seized the man's electronic devices – computers, laptops, tablets, phones and memory cards. The remains are being analysed by forensic experts; in light of the results, further offences may also be uncovered.
The man is being held in custody on suspicion of the unlawful use of human bodies.
