The Miskolc Court has convicted a man who, whilst intoxicated, called the emergency services threatening to behead his partner if police did not arrive within half an hour.

The Miskolc Court has handed down a sentence that is not yet final in a case in which a man threatened his partner with death over the telephone – according to hvg.hu.
On 12 October 2025, after a day spent drinking, the defendant quarrelled with his partner at their home. Late in the evening, he called the emergency number 112 from his flat in Sájovelezd and stated that if police did not arrive within 25–30 minutes, he would behead his partner. The authorities arrived and took the man away.
The prosecution charged him with the offence of threatening to commit a terrorist act. The basis of the criminal classification was that the defendant attempted to compel the state authority to take action through the threat of committing a violent crime.
The court sentenced him to 1 year and 10 months imprisonment, with the execution of the sentence suspended for 4 years. As mitigating circumstances, the court took into account his admission of guilt, remorse, and personal circumstances. Aggravating circumstances included his previous convictions and intoxication of his own making.
The prosecutor appealed against the sentence, requesting a more severe punishment.
