Missing British man in Budapest – police seek witnesses
A 45-year-old British citizen disappeared in the early hours of 16 June 2026 from an entertainment venue in District VII. The Budapest Police Headquarters is asking for the public's assistance.
British man missing from Budapest entertainment venue
According to Index, police are searching extensively for John Robert Joseph Tovell, a 45-year-old British citizen, who disappeared around 2 a.m. on 16 June 2026 from an entertainment venue in District VII and has been in an unknown location since.
Tovell is approximately 190 centimetres tall with short greying hair and a beard. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing black trousers, a black T-shirt and a dark green long-sleeved shirt.
The District VIII Police Headquarters of the Budapest Police Headquarters is asking members of the public to report any information about Tovell's whereabouts – anonymously if preferred – to the Telefontanú (Telephone Witness) hotline 06-80-555-111, available 24 hours a day, or to the emergency number 112.
