A serious incident occurred in Csókakő, where violent actions were taken against a media worker at a municipal committee meeting. According to the local television report, tensions emerged at the event which ultimately only the police could manage.
During the meeting, a heated argument broke out between a councillor and the municipal clerk. The situation became so inflamed that a break had to be called. The CsókakőTV worker continued recording during the break, on which basis they continued documenting public figures.
After the break, tensions escalated further. A committee member stood in front of the camera, and a municipal councillor behaved aggressively towards the journalist making the recording. He literally pressed the door against the person operating the camera, thereby attempting to obstruct press activities.
According to the local media, attempts to obstruct reporting had been made several times previously. The audio recording and the live broadcast had already generated controversy multiple times. A video of the attack on the journalist was handed over to the authorities.
Mayor Ildikó Lévai was forced to intervene to resolve the situation. Police officers who arrived at the scene drew up a report of the incident. Two separate criminal cases are currently underway against the councillor who behaved in a threatening manner. According to the local press, it is unprecedented in the town's history that police intervention became necessary because of the behaviour of a municipal councillor.
