Special operations forces arrested a thirty-five-year-old man in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county who had threatened a person working behind bars and their relatives – according to 24.hu.
The suspect, born in Nyíregyháza, said during the operation that he was aware he was being sought and claimed he intended to turn himself in to the authorities the next day.
The Budapest police ordered the issuance of a warrant for the man in mid-April because he had used violence against an employee of a detention facility. The man had been released shortly before, in March. According to the charges, he not only intimidated the person working behind bars but also beat two of his fellow inmates during his time in detention. One of them suffered facial injuries, and according to a doctor, recovery took longer than eight days.
The special unit treats as a priority cases where previously uniformed officers had been attacked and the perpetrator's whereabouts were unknown. After locating the man's hiding place, the armed specialists conducted a raid in Bökön.
During the raid, a married couple was also present at the house, who are suspected of drug trafficking. They greeted the arriving commandos with a placard.
