Police detain Fonyód city management Ltd managing director
Police have detained the managing director of Fonyód City Development and City Management Non-profit Public Benefit Ltd and one of his relatives on suspicion of unlawful invoicing and payments – confirmed the investigating authority to the Népszava, which also served as a source for hvg.hu.
The Népszava reported back in June last year that police had attended the city management company's headquarters and removed several boxes of documents. At that time, the authority had not released details about precisely what case was involved and against whom proceedings had been initiated.
Opposition representatives in the Fonyód municipal assembly – members of a local association – established a committee in 2025 to scrutinise the company, shortly before police began their investigation. The assembly's majority subsequently rejected the acceptance of the committee's report at a closed session, meaning its contents did not become public.
The Népszava, citing unconfirmed information, reports that investigators found suspicious payments valued at 150–300 million forint from the period between 2019 and 2024.
