A woman drove her Tesla car into an ice-cream shop building in Siófok on Saturday morning after colliding with another vehicle. Three young people travelling in the innocent vehicle were injured in the accident.
According to footage from surveillance cameras, the driver was travelling at high speed through the town, which witnesses estimated at 150 kilometres per hour. At an intersection, she ignored a stop sign and collided head-on with another car carrying three young people.
The impact caused the luxury car to become uncontrollable, and it then crashed into an ice-cream shop by the roadside. The impact created cracks in the building's walls.
Of the occupants of the struck vehicle, one man suffered head, chest and elbow injuries, one woman complained of abdominal pain, and the third passenger sustained chest injuries. The paramedics took all three to hospital.
The woman driving the Tesla and her two passengers also required hospital treatment, although the driver did not suffer serious injuries. According to witnesses at the scene, the woman displayed shocking indifference: one of her first questions beside the ruins was when she could get a new car.
According to the injured ice-cream shop owner, the building's walls were also damaged. The neighbouring catering establishment is temporarily unable to serve customers due to the damage.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident with the involvement of experts, with particular attention to the exact speed and suspicion of intoxication.
