Staff from the Nógrád County police and the local police headquarters carried out an operation in September 2014 in an already ongoing case, during which several suspects were arrested – according to Police.hu.

In the first phase of the investigation, on 17 September in the afternoon, a car was stopped near Pásztó. In the vehicle of the 35-year-old driver from Salgótarján, police found white substance wrapped in aluminium foil – according to experts, amphetamine – and plant material in a plastic bag, presumably marijuana.

Based on the investigation data, a 37-year-old Budapest resident supplied the narcotics purchased from the man. With the assistance of a Counter-Terrorism Centre unit, police arrested the suspect in the capital the same day. A search was conducted at his home, where officers found a replica firearm, nearly four hundred ecstasy tablets, dozens of marijuana plants, and a larger quantity of cocaine and amphetamine. Drug production and distribution equipment and a significant amount of cash were also seized from the flat.

It was later discovered that the man from Salgótarján had obtained the substance found in his possession from a 27-year-old Budapest resident at a shopping centre in the capital. Investigators arrested the man on 24 September, again with the involvement of the Counter-Terrorism Centre. More than 44 grams of amphetamine and nearly 77 grams of ecstasy tablets were seized from his flat.

The 27-year-old suspect was placed in custody, and proceedings were initiated against him on suspicion of drug possession and drug trafficking. The prosecution was requested to seek his remand in custody.
