Charges filed in Dunakaeszi: man assaulted wife in front of underage child

The Dunakaeszi District Prosecutor's Office has pressed charges against a man for the offence of endangering a minor and further criminal acts, according to dunakeszipost.hu. The accused lived in Dunakaeszi with his wife and their young daughter, who attends the lower forms of primary school. The man regularly consumed alcohol, and under its influence would initiate arguments.

During these disputes, he insulted the woman, spoke to her with profanity, and repeatedly threatened to kill her. There was even an occasion when he held a gun to his wife's head. The underage child regularly witnessed these scenes.

In April 2024, in the presence of their daughter, the man assaulted the woman, then pulled back his wife who tried to flee the premises and prevented her from leaving the house. The following month, during another conflict, the accused produced a sword with a 75-centimetre blade and threatened the woman that he would cleave her in two and kill her. The woman managed to escape at that point.

According to the prosecution, the accused's conduct severely traumatised his underage child and endangered his moral development. The man is charged with qualified harassment against his wife, violation of personal freedom, and the offence of endangering a minor.

The accused's guilt will be decided by the Dunakaeszi District Court. A photograph released by the police shows the sword that was used in the threat.
