Eight foreign nationals lost their lives in two separate incidents on the M1 motorway near Győr. Police are investigating with a complete closure of the carriageway.

Two separate tragedies occurred in the early hours of the morning on the M1 motorway in the Győr region, in which a total of eight men from abroad lost their lives – according to Police.hu.

The accidents happened at the 113-kilometre and 114-kilometre markers. According to police data, of the fatal victims, seven were of Moldovan origin and one was of Turkish origin. On the side of the motorway heading towards Hegyeshalom, the authorities closed the entire section of road for the duration of the investigation. Drivers are being diverted off the motorway at the Győrszentiván junction, marked as 112.

The police urge drivers to exercise increased caution in the region.
