Szeged woman coerced drug-dependent victims into prostitution
The Csongrád-Csanád county prosecutor's office initiated pre-trial detention for a Szeged woman who, together with her husband, committed human trafficking offences. The couple created drug dependencies in their victims and then forced them into prostitution, according to 24.hu based on a statement by the deputy spokesperson.
The criminal organisation operated across multiple counties since 2023. The victims were regularly supplied with narcotics, which made them completely vulnerable. The drug-dependent individuals were then forced into sexual work, with the proceeds kept by the perpetrators.
During the investigation, suspicions of human trafficking and forced labour emerged. The chief prosecutor requested 30 days of pre-trial detention for the woman due to the risk of flight, obstruction of proceedings, and the possibility of further criminal acts.
Police and the prosecutor's office are continuing to investigate the case. Authorities are continually gathering evidence for a complete investigation.
