A twenty-eight-year-old Slovak national was arrested in Budapest on suspicion of carrying out multiple ATM bombings in his home country.

Officers from the Counter-Terrorism Centre apprehended a twenty-eight-year-old Slovak man in a Ferencváros car park, who is accused of carrying out bombings of cash dispensers in Slovakia – reports 24.hu.
The suspect committed explosive robberies in May, then drove across the border and went into hiding in a Budapest property. Based on information received from foreign law enforcement agencies, investigators from the Budapest Police Headquarters and officers from the National Protection Service located his hideout through a joint operation.
On 12 June, at the time of arrest, investigators seized a firearm, body armour, a mask, a headlamp and gloves from him. They also found materials for explosive devices: a timer, a remote control and detonators. Stolen number plates were also confiscated.
The Budapest Police Headquarters is conducting proceedings for misuse of explosives. The man was taken into custody on the basis of an international arrest warrant, and discussions are ongoing with Slovak authorities regarding his extradition. Since he did not carry out bombings in Hungary, the Hungarian investigation is focused on possession of prohibited materials.
