A sixteen-year-old boy is the suspect in a Josephstadt murder case in which the victim was his own great-grandmother. Police questioned the youth for homicide, and his accomplice is suspected of aiding and abetting.

On the evening of 15 June, an eighty-five-year-old woman was found dead in a flat in a tenement building in Budapest's eighth district. Following a report to police, officers arrived at the scene, where investigations raised suspicion that it was not a case of natural death. The Life Protection Division of the Budapest Police Headquarters launched proceedings on suspicion of homicide and issued a manhunt for the perpetrator.
Investigators quickly turned their attention to the victim's sixteen-year-old great-grandson. The youth was questioned, then taken into custody on well-founded suspicion of homicide and his detention was requested. A fifteen-year-old girl was also brought in, suspected of aiding and abetting; she was also remanded in custody.
Journalists from Blikk learned that the suspect visited his relative two days before the tragedy was discovered, hoping for financial assistance. When the elderly woman refused to give him money, an argument broke out between them, during which the young man allegedly stabbed his great-grandmother multiple times. He took a mobile telephone and jewellery from the flat.
During questioning, the suspect denied intentionally harming the elderly woman. He claimed that they had scuffled, he pushed the relative, who fell, and an earring fell out of her ear during the fall. He later took this piece of jewellery with his girlfriend to a pawn shop.
The Metropolitan Public Prosecutor's Office stated to Blikk that they requested the remand of the minor on suspicion of premeditated, financially motivated homicide against a person with limited capacity to defend themselves due to their age. In the case of the fifteen-year-old girl, they proposed house arrest and supervision with electronic monitoring for aiding and abetting the homicide.
According to an earlier report on 24.hu, police attended Práter Street following a report, where they discovered the body of the eighty-five-year-old victim.
