The Budapest court ordered a thirty-day detention of a sixteen-year-old boy suspected of having killed his eighty-five-year-old grandmother. According to the decision of the Buda Central District Court, the juvenile suspect will spend this time in a reformatory – the Metropolitan Court reported.

The BRFK announced last week that a homicide had occurred in Budapest's eighth district. Within a few days, investigators identified the alleged perpetrator as the victim's sixteen-year-old great-nephew. The boy was questioned and then taken into custody.

According to the prosecution, the motive was financial gain. The suspect searched online for information on how to render an elderly person immobilised through medication or strangulation. Two days later, in the evening, he visited his relative with his girlfriend and a minor sibling. He demanded money, which led to an argument. He then hit the woman from behind and repeatedly stabbed her neck with a sharp object. Afterwards, he took a gold chain, two rings, an earring, and a mobile phone.

The victim died at the scene. The following day, the boy and the girl with him took the earring to a pawnshop, where they received twenty-five thousand forints for it.

The fifteen-year-old girlfriend is suspected of being an accessory. She was placed under property-related supervision for four months. The boy's case was appealed; the ruling against the girl is legally binding.
