Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that comedian Oleg Šurajevas has been charged with unlawful possession of narcotic substances without intent to distribute.

Vilnius Regional Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that humorist Oleg Šurajevas has been charged with unlawful possession of narcotic substances for personal use. This information was announced by LRT.
A representative of the prosecutor's office, Gintarė Vitkauskaitė-Šatkaukienė, stated that the pre-trial investigation, initiated under Article 259, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, is continuing. Preventive measures not related to deprivation of liberty have been applied to the suspect.
O. Šurajevas came to the attention of the capital's police at the end of April. Officers received a report that young people at "Vilnius Comedy Club" might be in possession of drugs. When police arrived at the location, they found potentially prohibited substances at the home of the comedian born in 1988.
For unlawful possession of narcotic or psychotropic substances without intent to distribute them, the penalties are public works, a fine, restriction of liberty, arrest, or imprisonment for up to two years.
