Investigation launched into death of infant in Zarasai district
An approximately two-and-a-half-month-old girl was found lifeless in a home in Zarasai district during the night. Medical personnel were unable to resuscitate her. Police established that the infant's body bore no external injuries.
Infant found dead in Zarasai district during night – circumstances of death under investigation
On the night of 9 June, at approximately 3:30 a.m., an accident occurred in a residential area of Zarasai district. A girl of approximately two-and-a-half months of age, who had lost her life, was discovered in one family's home.
A medical team that arrived at the scene of the incident attempted to resuscitate the infant. The doctors made every effort while there remained even the slightest hope of preserving life. Unfortunately, resuscitation proved unsuccessful.
According to representatives of Utena district police, no external injuries were observed on the infant's body. Officers regard the family in which the accident occurred as orderly. At present, no one is under suspicion of negligence.
An investigation has been initiated into the incident. Experts will be tasked with establishing the precise cause of the infant's death.
