Drug raids in Daugavpils: 65 grammes of amphetamine and 85 tablets seized
The State Police conducted two raids in Daugavpils in early October, seizing 65 grammes of amphetamine, syringes and psychotropic tablets. Two criminal proceedings have been initiated under Article 253.1 of the Criminal Law.
Police seize amphetamine and psychotropic tablets in two Daugavpils raids
In early October, officers of the State Police conducted two authorised searches in Daugavpils in connection with the unlawful trafficking of narcotic substances, according to lasi.lv. In total, during both operations, 65 grammes of amphetamine, seven syringes containing liquid amphetamine and 85 tablets containing psychotropic substances were removed from circulation.
First raid: 50 grammes of amphetamine and MDMA tablets
On 9 October 2026, employees of the Investigation Department of the South Latgale District of the Latgale Regional Department of the State Police checked operational information regarding suspected unlawful trafficking of narcotic substances. The search was conducted at the residence of a man born in 1994 in Daugavpils.
The officer found and seized 50 grammes of amphetamine, seven full syringes containing liquid amphetamine, as well as six MDMA tablets. The search was conducted as part of a criminal proceeding already initiated previously.
Second raid: additional substances from a person born in 1995
Four days later, on 13 October, officials continued their targeted work in the field of drug enforcement. This time, an authorised search was conducted at the residence of a person born in 1995 — in another previously initiated criminal proceeding.
In this case, law enforcement officers also uncovered and seized narcotic and psychotropic substances. The exact composition of the seized substances will be determined following appointed expert examinations, police indicate.
Two criminal proceedings, sentence up to eight years
In both cases, criminal proceedings have been initiated at the State Police under the first part of Article 253.1 of the Criminal Law — for the unauthorised manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation or forwarding of narcotic or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as for their unauthorised sale.
The prescribed penalty for this violation is imprisonment from two to eight years with confiscation of property or without it, as well as probation supervision for a period of up to three years. The investigation in both criminal proceedings will continue.

The State Police emphasises that no person is considered guilty until their guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law.
