A man was robbed of his phone and shopping bag in a park in Rēzekne on 14 September. The next day, police detained a teenager born in 2009.

As delfi.lv learned from the State Police, on the evening of 14 September an unidentified person used physical force to attack a man born in 1977 in one of the parks in Rēzekne, causing him bodily injuries, and stole his mobile phone and shopping bag with goods. The total amount of loss was approximately 300 euros.
The State Police responded immediately to the information received and, in the course of the investigation, identified the suspected perpetrator. On 15 September, officials detained a teenager born in 2009; the court imposed a security measure on him — remand in custody.
The police note that the detained person had previously been on the radar of officials both for similar criminal offences and for other violations.
In connection with the incident, the State Police initiated criminal proceedings under Article 176, Part 1 of the Criminal Law — for theft of another's movable property associated with violence (robbery). The penalty provided for such an offence is deprivation of liberty for a period of up to five years, short-term deprivation of liberty, probation supervision, community service or a monetary fine, with or without confiscation of property.
The investigation is ongoing. The State Police reminds that no person is considered guilty until their guilt has been proven in the manner provided by law.
