Jugla resident suspected of stabbing neighbour in throat – case referred to prosecutor

The State Police have recommended charges against a Riga Jugla resident for attempted murder of a neighbour, according to Google News LV — Crime (lv).

On 2 April, police received information about a stabbing incident. The investigation revealed that a man born in 1977 was consuming alcohol and playing music loudly in his flat – this led to a conflict with a neighbour, during which the suspected man stabbed a man born in 1970 in the throat. The man was detained the same day.

On 4 April, a court ordered his detention, but on 8 July the security measure was eased: the man was ordered to report regularly to police and prohibited from leaving Latvia without the prosecutor's permission.

The suspected man previously had contact with police. On 7 August, the criminal case was referred to the Riga North Prosecutor's Office to initiate criminal prosecution.
