Stolen car used to ram Paola shop window; suspect found in second stolen vehicle
A 44-year-old man from Santa Lucija has been arrested in connection with an early-morning robbery in Paola, maltatoday.com.mt reports.
Police on patrol in Antoine De Paul Square spotted a shattered shop window at 2:40am on Thursday. Investigators established that a Toyota vehicle had been driven into the shopfront; the driver then exited, took several items, and left the scene.
Officers immediately launched a search and located the Toyota abandoned on Xintill Street, Tarxien. The vehicle had been stolen shortly before the incident, also in Tarxien.
Investigators further determined that the suspect had fled in a second stolen car after ditching the Toyota. Once police tracked down that vehicle, they found the man inside and arrested him on the spot.
The suspect is expected to appear before Magistrate Nadine Sant Lia on Friday.
