Teenager arrested for domestic violence in Miechów county

The District Court in Miechów has ordered the three-month remand in custody of a 17-year-old boy suspected of abuse within the family. The youth, who lives in Miechów county, allegedly subjected his mother and grandfather to psychological and physical violence, according to police sources.

Police officers intervened at the teenager's residence on 1 and 16 October. Those who reported the incidents indicated that the boy was behaving aggressively, abusing alcohol and destroying household items. Residents, unable to manage the youth's behaviour, notified the Miechów police unit of their suspicion that a crime had been committed.

On 28 October, officers conducted another intervention. This time, the teenager attempted to commit robbery against his grandfather using a dangerous implement and made criminal threats to deprive his uncle of life, threatening him with an axe. He was detained at that point.

After sobering up, he was brought to the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Miechów. The prosecutor presented him with three charges: psychological and physical abuse of family members, attempted robbery using a dangerous implement, and making criminal threats. The court approved the request to apply a preventive measure.
