Drugs in parcels for detention centre
A Georgian citizen staying at the Przemyśl Social Temporary Centre (SOC) received a parcel containing clothing on 27 October. Upon verification of the contents, officials from the Bieszczady Border Guard discovered nearly 4 grammes of mephedrone hidden and sewn into trousers and a jacket. The foreigner was in the centre in connection with a planned forced deportation; he posed a threat to security. Proceedings were initiated against him; the court will make the final decision. Under the escort of officials, he was already transported by air to Georgia.
A day later, border guards found cocaine on a Tunisian citizen during the admission procedure at the centre. Further proceedings in the case are underway. According to bieszczadzki.strazgraniczna.pl, every parcel entering the SOC undergoes verification. At the end of April this year, officials discovered over 90% alcohol in a container of dish-washing liquid, and in July they seized excise-free tobacco products — both were intended for Ukrainian citizens.
Regulations prohibit the possession of image and sound recording devices and cash at the centre. Nevertheless, attempts to deliver such items from outside do occur. Money is found in parcels and personal belongings of individuals who concealed the fact of their possession. According to regulations, financial resources should be stored in a deposit. In November 2025, border guards found a smartphone hidden in a chocolate box.
