38-year-old man traded illegal weight-loss and erectile dysfunction drugs. Arrested at parcel locker
Officers from the capital's division tackling economic crime detained a 38-year-old man at the moment he was attempting to send four parcels through a parcel machine in Wincentów near Piaseczno. The packages contained pharmaceutical substances not permitted for legal sale on the country's territory.
The arrest resulted from earlier operational investigation. Investigators obtained information that a courier shipment containing prohibited preparations was planned in the Piaseczno county area. Officers set up an ambush and apprehended the suspect as he placed cardboard boxes into the parcel locker compartment.
During the intervention, the 38-year-old admitted that the packages contained substances containing testosterone and medications supporting sexual function. A subsequent search of his car and residential premises made it possible to secure additional goods.
In total, law enforcement officers seized 760 tablets, 116 vials and 41 injection applicators containing chemical preparations accelerating weight loss. The total amount of seized products indicates a significant scale of illegal operations.
At the police station, the man explained that he was the owner of the entire stock. He stated that he purchased pharmaceuticals via the Internet and then sold them on to people in his circle. It was not disclosed how long his activities had lasted or how many people could have purchased the prohibited substances from him.
The District Prosecutor in Piaseczno charged him with attempting to introduce medicinal products onto the market without the required authorisations. This crime carries a sentence of imprisonment of up to two years. Proceedings in the matter continue.
