80-year-old from Podhale sentenced for murdering brother. Will be released at age 92
The Regional Court in Nowy Sącz delivered a verdict in a murder case that occurred a year ago in the village of Odrowąż in the Podtatrze region. The accused is 80-year-old Jan F., who according to the court murdered his brother Władysław.
At the time the crime was committed, the perpetrator was 79 years old, and his victim was 84 years old. As established by the judiciary, the reason for the murder was long-standing conflicts concerning property, which had divided the two men for years.
The verdict may make the convicted man one of the oldest prisoners in Polish penal institutions. Taking into account the length of the sentence, the man will only be released when he is 92 years old.
