A charge sheet has been filed with the court in Kraków against three officers from Andrychów. They are accused of failing to take appropriate action in November 2023 following a report that 14-year-old Natalia had gone missing. Two of them have already left the service.

The girl was on her way to school when she suddenly suffered a brain swelling. Without the strength to continue, she collapsed on the pavement in the city centre. She managed to call her father and inform him of her condition. The man immediately notified the police, asking for help in finding his daughter.

Investigators established that the officers had adopted inappropriate grounds for initiating a search. They did not dispatch patrols to search for her, did not order the location of the child's mobile telephone, and did not undertake other actions that could have led to the teenager being found quickly.

As a result of the officers' negligence, the girl remained in freezing temperatures for a long time. She died of hypothermia. The prosecutor's office charges the police officers that their failure to fulfil their duties exposed the minor to direct danger of loss of life.

None of the accused admitted to committing the acts with which they are charged. The offence carries a penalty of up to three years imprisonment.
