On Thursday 25 June, shortly after 6 p.m., a dangerous incident occurred at a medical facility in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. A 19-year-old resident of the city entered the hospital grounds and made his way to one of the wards, where he attacked hospitalised women with a knife.
Healthcare workers who witnessed the incident did not delay their response. They immediately took action to stop the aggressor. As a result of the confrontation, two patients were injured, as well as a doctor and a nurse. All sustained wounds from the blade. The condition of one of the injured women is serious – she underwent surgery. The others remain in a stable condition.
Officers received a report whilst staff were still restraining the attacker. Upon arrival at the scene, they took over the intervention, placed handcuffs on the suspect and took him to the station. The man was placed in a holding cell.
The evidence collected allowed the 19-year-old to be handed over to the custody of the prosecutor's office. On this day he was brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. Now the prosecutor and the court system will decide his future.
