A family tragedy occurred in the village of Mierzawa in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. A 49-year-old man who previously served in the police is suspected of fatally stabbing his 80-year-old father-in-law and severely injuring his 76-year-old mother-in-law. The District Prosecutor in Jędrzejów issued a search warrant against him.

The incident took place on 19 June in the afternoon. The suspect allegedly used a sharp tool against the elderly couple. The man died at the scene, whilst the woman was transported to a medical facility in critical condition.

The suspect left the scene and remains at large. According to information provided by officers, the man is approximately 180 centimetres tall, with dark hair, receding hairline and short hairstyle. He has no distinguishing marks on his body in the form of tattoos or scars. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a light blue shirt, dark jogging trousers and sports shoes. He disappeared on a yellow and black electric scooter.

Police authorities in Kielce have organised an extensive search operation. A special hotline has been set up for people who may have relevant information at 516-385-635. Contact can be made by telephone, text message or by sending photographs. The identity of informants will be protected.

"Every tip could bring us closer to apprehending the perpetrator," emphasises junior inspector Kamil Tokarski, spokesperson for the local police headquarters.

The District Court in Jędrzejów decided to apply pre-trial detention against the fugitive. At the same time, it is recalled that any assistance in helping the wanted person to hide or providing him with shelter constitutes a criminal offence punishable by up to five years' imprisonment.
