Chechen activist comments on arrest in connection with killing of Russian
A 36-year-old arrested in connection with the killing of a Russian critic of Putin may be Chechen. Islam Belokiev claims that Ramzan Kadyrov is pleased with the event.
Chechen activist: Kadyrov pleased following arrest in Russian killing case
On Wednesday, police officers from Lublin and officials from ABW detained a man suspected of involvement in the killing of a 44-year-old Russian in Biała Podlaska. The arrest took place at a workers' hostel in Piaseczno near Warsaw.
A passport issued to a Georgian citizen was found on the detainee. According to information obtained by Onet, the document may prove to be counterfeit. Preliminary investigations suggest that the 36-year-old may originate from Chechnya. Alternatively, the man may come from the north-eastern region of Georgia, where a Chechen minority resides.
The case was commented on for Onet by Islam Belokiev, a Chechen independence activist. According to him, Ramzan Kadyrov — the leader of Chechnya and a trusted associate of Vladimir Putin — is very pleased with the event. Belokiev suggests that the arrest may be connected with the interests of the Russian regime.
The killing took place on Monday in one of the residential districts in Biała Podlaska. The victim, who appeared in the media as Semion Skrepiecki, was known for criticism of the Kremlin. According to the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński, the detainee is also suspected of other crimes committed in Poland in 2022.
