Two doctors among nine arrested in illegal trade of narcotic medicines across multiple provinces
Poznań prosecution is overseeing a case involving an organised group that illegally distributed opioid and psychotropic medicines. 1.2 million złoty in cash, gold and an Audi were seized.

According to Google News PL — Crime (pl), officers from the Department for Combating Economic Crime, operating under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Poznań, dismantled an organised criminal group engaged in illegal trafficking of powerful narcotic medicines. Following a multi-month operation covering several provinces, a total of nine people were arrested, of whom five are already in custody.
The starting point for the entire investigation was a report from a resident of Piła. The man received a notification from the "mojeIKP" application informing him that a prescription had been issued under his name — although he had never visited a doctor and did not require the prescribed medicine. This very vigilance allowed officers to discover the operation on a large scale.
Two doctors proved to be key elements in the structure of the group — one from the Greater Poland province, the other from the Mazovian province. They issued prescriptions for psychotropic medicines, opioids and medical marijuana to people who were not their patients, who were not ill and who did not use such preparations. The medicines were subsequently purchased in pharmacies throughout the country, resold and sent abroad.
During police operations, 1 million 200,000 złoty in cash in various currencies was seized, an Audi vehicle valued at over 200,000 złoty and gold worth over 200,000 złoty. Officers also confiscated significant quantities of narcotic and psychotropic medicines, thousands of blister packs containing tablets prepared for illegal sale, and several thousand unlawfully issued medical prescriptions.
Most of those arrested were charged with, among other offences, participation in an organised criminal group, distributing large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and illegal acquisition and disposal of medicines, including their export abroad. These offences carry a sentence of up to 12 years' imprisonment.
The case is still developing, which means further arrests are possible.
