Four men arrested for involvement in an organised criminal group that stole cars in Łódź Voivodeship. Stolen BMW and Lexus, engines, parts and over 8 kg of drugs were recovered from the hideout. Three suspects remanded in custody for three months.

Four men aged 31 to 45 were detained during a major police operation conducted on 16 June in Mazovian Voivodeship. Officers from the Municipal Police Command in Skierniewice, supported by colleagues from Łódź, Warsaw and counter-terrorism police from the BOA, uncovered an organised group involved in car theft and dismantling.
According to investigators' findings, the perpetrators stole personal vehicles in the Łódź region, mainly in the Skierniewice area. Stolen cars were taken to hidden locations where they were dismantled for parts. The components were subsequently distributed for resale.
The arrests came after months of operational work. Among the evidence, recordings from surveillance cameras proved crucial. During searches of flats and premises used by the gang, officers recovered two complete vehicles – a BMW and a Lexus. Two engines from other stolen cars and several dozen car parts were also seized.
In the course of further investigations, officers discovered significant quantities of narcotics. The seized substances included: over 230 grammes of amphetamine, nearly 280 grammes of mephedrone, close to 4 kilogrammes of marijuana and over 4 kilogrammes of an as-yet-unidentified substance. All were sent to the forensic laboratory for testing.
Police also found specialist electronic equipment. It was intended to disrupt GPS and mobile phone signals and to overcome factory vehicle security systems.
The District Prosecutor's Office in Łódź brought a series of charges against the detainees. All four will face charges of participation in an organised criminal group. Two of them, aged 38 and 31, were additionally charged with handling stolen goods. The other two, aged 42 and 45, are to be prosecuted for burglary thefts from three cars. The younger of them was also charged with drug possession, and the older with drug trafficking.
The court ordered the remand in custody of three suspects for a period of three months. Heading a criminal group carries a sentence of up to eight years' imprisonment, and burglary theft carries up to ten years. The Prosecutor's Office notes that given the circumstances of this case, sentences could be more severe owing to the organised nature of the activity.
Investigators stress that the case is developing and further arrests cannot be ruled out.
