Officers from the counter-terrorism unit "BOA" carried out a morning operation on Thursday that brought a breakthrough in the case of the killing of a Russian national in Biała Podlaska. The detainee was in possession of a passport issued to a Georgian citizen — this information was confirmed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
However, according to new information provided by Radio Zet, the detainee was most likely not the person who personally carried out the execution. This points to the possibility of wider participation by other entities in an organised criminal operation.
Let us recall that the killing took place on Monday morning at one of the residential districts in Biała Podlaska. The victim was a 44-year-old Russian national, a critic of Vladimir Putin, known in the media as Siemion Skriepiecki. The attacker fired seven shots from a short-range weapon at him, including five entry and two exit wounds to the head, chest and back.
Authorities continue to work on establishing who commissioned the crime. Two Belarusian citizens were previously detained but were subsequently released after their direct connection to the murder was ruled out.
