A Colombian citizen illegally resident in Poland has been charged with burglary after entering a building at the War Studies Academy in Warsaw. The court ordered his remand in custody.

On the night of Thursday to Friday, a concerning incident occurred on the grounds of the War Studies Academy at al. gen. A. Chruściel "Montera" 103 in Warsaw. A Colombian citizen, apparently under the influence of psychoactive substances, damaged a window pane in one of the university buildings with a stone. Through the broken window, he entered the interior, where he was quickly subdued by security guards and handed over to officers.
Security staff noticed the damaged window and immediately called the police and military police. Fortunately, no property was stolen – the incident was limited solely to material damage.
Officers examined the scene, secured traces and gathered evidence. Based on this, the prosecutor applied to the court for a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody. The court upheld this application and ordered three months' remand for the suspect.
The man has been charged with the offence under Article 279 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code, namely burglary. This crime carries a penalty of up to 10 years' imprisonment. It was also established that the Colombian was staying in the country illegally.
Due to the specific nature of the location where the incident occurred, the Internal Security Agency and the Military Counterintelligence Service were notified of the incident. The services are examining possible motives for the suspect's actions, but he has not been charged with espionage or activity on behalf of a foreign intelligence service. His motive remains under investigation.
