Officers from the Kielce police headquarters found the 65-year-old man early in the morning, who had been hiding in the undergrowth since Friday. His detention came after hours-long search operations conducted by local patrols.
The uniformed officers provided the detained man with medical assistance at the scene, after which they transported him under guard to a hospital facility. The decision to hospitalise him was made by doctors. A spokeswoman for the Kielce police, Deputy Commander Małgorzata Perkowska-Kiepas, informed that the interrogation of the suspect will take place as soon as his health condition permits.
The background of the case goes back to Friday afternoon in Borkowo, a town near Kielce. The body of a 64-year-old woman was discovered in one of the houses there. A doctor who arrived in response to the call pronounced death. According to preliminary findings by investigators, the woman's death was not natural – there is suspicion of the involvement of third parties.
From the very beginning, the case has been headed by a prosecutor. Police officers immediately launched a pursuit of the victim's husband, considering him a key person in the entire incident. Investigators suspected that he was the last person to see his wife alive.
