Intoxicated officers in custody. Policeman assaults security guard, soldier damages cars
Two representatives of the uniformed services found themselves at the centre of criminal incidents within just a few hours. Both were off-duty and under the influence of alcohol.
The first case involved a 26-year-old police officer from one of the police stations in the capital. The incident occurred in the night from Friday to Saturday on a guarded residential estate in the Białołęka district. The off-duty officer committed assault on an employee of a security agency, and also vandalised someone else's property.
Officers called to the scene showed no leniency to their colleague. The man refused to submit to a breathalyser test, so blood was taken from him. Laboratory testing showed the presence of 0.5 mg/l of ethanol. A drugs test came back negative. Due to health concerns, the detainee was placed under medical supervision.
The second episode took place before dawn in Tymbarek in Małopolskie Voivodeship. A 20-year-old soldier from the Podhale Riflemen Battalion climbed onto parked vehicles, including police service cars. As a result, four cars were damaged, as was the entrance to the police station building.
Blood taken from him showed 1.5 per mille of alcohol. The Military Police took up the case, with its Kraków division conducting the investigation.
