Intoxicated 25-year-old fired at people with air gun in Zawiercie
A young man under the influence of alcohol fired at pedestrians from a window of a house on Mrzygłodzka Street. One of the projectiles wounded a passer-by in the hand. A collection of air weapons was discovered in the flat.

On Tuesday, a dangerous incident occurred on Mrzygłodzka Street in Zawiercie. Someone began firing at pedestrians from the window of one of the apartment buildings. One of the projectiles struck the hand of a man passing by.
Responding officers found two men at the fence. One of them had a wound on his arm – police officers provided him with first aid and called an ambulance. The wounded individuals pointed to the building from which shots had been fired.
In the flat at the indicated address, there was a mother and her son. The twenty-five-year-old denied that he had aimed at people, although he admitted that the window through which the shooter had been seen belonged to his room.
During a search of the premises, uniformed officers found a short air weapon hidden under piles of clothing. A compressed-air rifle, spare magazines, and ammunition were also found – both pellets and cartridges for the air gun.
The detainee turned out to be under the influence of alcohol. Testing showed close to 1.5 per mille. During interrogation, he confessed to the offence, but could not provide a reasonable explanation for why he had started shooting at people in the street.
The prosecutor's office brought charges against him. The man confessed to them. He faces up to two years' imprisonment, and given that the offence is classified as hooliganism – the sentence could be more severe.
